Our story
Homage
The name ‘Karivarah’ pays homage to one of my ancestors. As legend has it, she was a revered rainmaker, who’s songs could conjure days of rain. Her skill gained her widespread respect and influence, and she carved out a name for herself in Zimbabwean history.
Our collection is a celebration of the women who leave a mark on their communities. The women who make something from nothing.
From our home, to yours
Every time Martin and I visited Africa, we bought back gifts – colourful little trinkets that our friends here in Norway found delightful.
What we didn’t bring for them, we brought for ourselves and our home. At some point, we realised we wanted to share more of Africa with more of Norway.
So, we founded Karivarah AS in 2022. In many ways though, it’s been in the making for much, much longer … but that’s a story for another day.
