Enchanted beaded chandelier

A chandelier of natural maple beads, strung by hand in loose, draped swags around a bamboo frame. The beads come in two sizes that alternate along each strand, and the fitting is antique brass to go with the wood. It measures 40 cm across and 50 cm tall.

Light filters softly through the beads, giving a warm glow that suits a bedroom, a child’s room, a hallway or the space above a dining table.

It takes one E27 bulb, not included, and a warm filament bulb looks best with the wood. The chandelier is for indoor use and must be installed by an electrician.

Enchanted is beaded by hand by a small team of women at a studio in South Africa.

The frame is a bamboo ring. Maple beads in two sizes are threaded onto waxed cotton cord, then hung from the ring in loops that gather and fall around the fitting. Each loop is set by hand, so every chandelier turns out slightly different.

Dust with a dry cloth or a soft brush. Switch off the power before you clean the chandelier or change the bulb, and keep water away from the fitting.
