A square trivet of maple beads in mixed colours, strung on waxed cotton cord. It measures 19 cm across and 3 cm thick, and takes a hot pan straight from the hob.
Imibala is Zulu for colours. The beads are chosen from a mixed batch, so the colours on yours will differ a little from the photograph. Between meals, it looks just as nice under a fruit bowl or a vase.
Imibala is beaded by hand at a small studio in South Africa.
The maple beads are threaded onto waxed cotton cord in rows, and the rows are laced together so the cord crosses between every bead. Pulled tight, the cord keeps the square flat and strong enough to hold a full pan.

Made for hot pans, straight from the hob. Wipe spills with a damp cloth and let it dry. Keep it out of the dishwasher and avoid soaking it, as water loosens the cord.
Everything we sell is made by hand, so colour, pattern, size, and shape vary a little from piece to piece. That’s a normal part of the craft.
